NWU Teaching & Learning Conference (2024)

On Wednesday, 11 September 2024, I delivered an address at the NWU Teaching & Learning Conference in Mahikeng, North-West, South Africa. My talk focused on student-centred learning, exploring how educational practitioners can adapt to the dynamic lives of students. I emphasised the integration of flexible and personalised learning strategies, advocating for a shift from traditional teacher-led instruction to collaborative, technology-enhanced experiences. I also discussed the importance of empowering students through critical thinking, adaptive learning tools, and real-world problem-solving. Moreover, I highlighted institutional, technological, pedagogical, and cultural barriers to implementing student-centred approaches, encouraging the audience to embrace new learning frameworks and theories to better support holistic student development. My address called for a more adaptive education system that prepares students to be resilient, autonomous lifelong learners.
