Prosper x Oakmeade Community Project (2025)
On Tuesday, 18 March 2025, our Prosper team from North-West University visited Oakmeade Prep and Academy in Meyerton to introduce and play-test the base version of our educational card game, Prosper, with enthusiastic teachers from the school. This event marked the exciting start of a collaborative community project between Oakmeade and North-West University, aimed at exploring and enhancing educational experiences through interactive, game-based learning.
During the afternoon session, teachers at Oakmeade engaged hands-on with Prosper, experiencing firsthand how the game integrates learning with play to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills aligned with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The feedback from educators was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the game's potential to enrich classroom interactions and stimulate learner engagement.
The initiative between Oakmeade Prep and Academy and North-West University will unfold over three distinct phases. Initially, teachers will incorporate the physical version of Prosper into their classrooms, observing learner interactions and assessing its educational impact. Teachers will then share insights and feedback, enabling our team to refine the game's efficacy and relevance to curriculum needs.
The second phase involves integrating and testing Prosper’s digital version. This step aims to harness digital interactivity, enhancing accessibility and engagement through technological mediums familiar to today’s learners. Teachers will again implement Prosper digitally, documenting the comparative effectiveness of digital versus physical game interactions.
In the third and most innovative phase, Oakmeade educators will creatively modify, augment, and adapt Prosper into an Open Educational Resource (OER). This critical step empowers teachers to tailor Prosper specifically to their classroom contexts, ensuring the game remains adaptable, sustainable, and impactful across diverse educational settings.
This collaborative journey promises not only to transform teaching and learning experiences but also to establish a replicable model for future educational innovations and partnerships.
